"I would have been more ambitious about the type of roles I was pursuing. You can do a variety of roles as long as you think you're qualified."

"But the more common way is to have a technical skill set that gets you some type of technical role and then you start working on security projects within that business or company and eventually you pivot into just doing security work full time."
